I didn't know that about the French, though I've travelled to France several times. I'm sure I've stepped in it there several times, there and many other places around the world.

But I do get what you mean. I get angry too about the lack of respect and caring for things like not using an indicator or randomly stopping without warning when driving, or pushing by me in a grocery store aisle without an excuse me. That's exactly how I feel: disrespected.

I've been wondering lately if that's really how I should feel. Maybe they don't know any better. And is it worth my blood pressure going up because someone else is a jerk? As you point out though, it's balancing that with how much shit we should put up with before we push back.

I haven't let go of it yet (my wife will testify to that... especially to my lack of patience with selfish drivers! lol) but I'm trying.

Or, at least, I'm trying to try...

Thank you Graham! After I read your comment I saw a guy hold on the doors of the subway at rush hour so he could get in and not wait for the next train. A passager gave him a very dirty look that he purposely ignored. Hundreds of people delayed so one person could save ~4min. Me, myself and I! One of my coaches told me to speak up and move on, the challenge is that we tend to do the opposite: not speak up and hold on. Ideal for a blood pressure (and cortisol!) boost. But not being the dalaĂŻ lama we are all trying to manage as best we can!

A friend of mine recently did the Snowman Trek in Bhutan, filming a documentary about the search for Happiness. Bhutan measures Gross Happiness Product rather than GDP, so their emphasis is in a different place.

I don't think they have subways, which helps... lol
