How to Take Control of Your Finances with Lisa Chastain 💸
Empowering women to improve their finances (it is good for everyone else too!)
Welcome back to The Microdose Diet a newsletter about personal and professional growth using alternative medicines, such as microdosing psychedelics. 🍄
In this latest episode, I engaged in an insightful discussion with Lisa Chastain, Money Coach, Best-Selling Author, and Radio Host. Lisa focuses on empowering women to take control of their finances and achieve their goals. Lisa has earned recognition from top media outlets such as CNBC, O-The Oprah Magazine, Entrepreneur, Fortune, and Cosmo.
Considering that only 10% of the world wealth is owned by women, while do I need to remind it again women represent 50% of the world population🙂, we understand Lisa’s interest in supporting women!

If you have been following my work you know how strongly I feel about conditioning and programming. I 100% believe that the “predestination” coming from mental, emotional and physical conditioning and programming prevents us from living the great lives we all crave and could achieve by reprogramming our thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Finances is the best example of these limitations. Nothing is more loaded than money; for most of us it is the source and proof of our value, as well as the cause of sorrow, struggle and worry.
In my book MORE! The Microdose Diet, The 90 Day Plan for More Success, Passion and Happiness (to be distributed by Simon & Schuster in May 24 😊), I explain how alternative medicines can help you reprogram your thoughts, feelings and emotions to get MORE of what you desire. It is the first book in a series, the next one will specifically address the topic of money.
It is a treat for me to interview experts such as Lisa who bring their own knowledge and experience to the table. We both have seen first, second, and third hand how limiting beliefs impact finances, keeping one in vicious circles, seemingly unable to break free from these unconscious destructive patterns. I am sure you will enjoy this episode and that it will bring some light on seemingly irrational behaviors.
💰 Perception is Projection
Our brains can’t perceive the world without the filter of who we are - perception is then projection - making these filters (aka beliefs) extremely important in our lives.
Considering that most of our beliefs were formed before the age of 7 you can understand how faulty these filters can be, and also how big their impact on your life in general and on your finances in particular.
Financial transformation can only happen when we understand those beliefs, where they came from and reprogram them. Otherwise, the financial decisions we will make will constantly be dictated by these beliefs we learnt at a very young age, beliefs that are highly likely disempowering and not mindfully chosen by us, as rational adults. 🧠
Lisa is using NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) with her clients to help them master their unconscious blocks related to money.
💸 Blocks and Limitations
“I should not make more money than my dad/mom/ parents” is an extremely popular unconscious money block, as mentioned both by Lisa and by Dr. Lise Janelle in a previous interview.
Lisa herself noticed the strong negative impacts on financial situations from parents’ limiting beliefs and words, such as; “Don’t work more than you should”, “Don’t take a leadership position”, and my personal favorite “More money, more problems”. Like for their parents before them, this restrictive mindset comes from their own parents, extended family, social class, environment and overall societal beliefs.
“I can’t be successful without a man in my life” was Lisa’s biggest block. This limiting belief came “naturally” to her from seeing her own family composed of a stay-at-home mum and a hard-working dad.
The overall belief that one is not worthy is the cornerstone of challenging financial situations. I actually wrote a post on exactly that topic, 💸Want More Money? Boost Your Self-Worth, and my book MORE! is also addressing this subject. How can you expect great wealth when you yourself believe you are not good enough?! This seems obvious but it is a real challenge. I have yet to meet anyone over 12 year old with a high self-generated self-worth.
🤑 Create New Supportive Beliefs
When one has faced restrictive physical, emotional and mental models regarding finances, they likely don’t know how to navigate life any other way. Hence the patterns of boom and bust, scarcity, and financial struggles many of us experience over and over.
To create new ways of interacting with money you will have to step out of your comfort zone. What has been familiar (and hence feels safe for your brain and nervous system) has unfortunately likely not been “good” when it comes to your financial situation.
By taking new actions, thinking new thoughts, feeling new emotions and feelings you can build sustainable success. However, this will not be a straight line, nor an overnight transformation. No magic wand, silver bullet or pixie dust involved in this process. 😊
